A special night of Jazz standards and other swingy tunes!

With 11 solo recordings to her credit, Lisa Redfern is an award winning singer-songwriter who has garnered positive critical reviews and extensive radio play over the years. With her clear, bell-like voice she has most often been compared to Judy Collins and Joan Baez, and she has opened for Livingston Taylor, Dave Mallett, The Roches, Cindy Kallet, and Pete Seeger.

More than a singer-songwriter, Lisa also has long been a fan of the American Song Book and jazz standards. During her years in the San Francisco Bay Area, she often did jazz gigs. In 2014 a dream of hers was realized, of recording a CD, “Once in a While” of 12 of her favorite of these beloved songs with a band. For this special show she will do a set of these songs from the CD, along with another set of similar jazz and swing tunes. Accompanying her will be Jesse Feinberg on keyboard and Duane Edwards on bass.

Doors open at 6 PM, Concert at 7 PM. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

What’s for Dinner?
Our dinner this week is a cozy Neapolitan-style baked pasta dish stuffed with tomatoes, mozzarella, your choice of sausage or mushrooms, and topped with a creamy béchamel. Served with a side salad and bread. $18 (includes tax and gratuity).

Livingston Taylor said to her, “Wow, I haven’t heard a voice like yours in 30 years, you sound like one of the original women of folk.”

David Wilcox said of her most recent CD of originals, “I love getting to know Lisa even better through these songs. They are true and real, good company, memorable and brave, with a great sense of humor, just like her.”

Dirty Linen Magazine wrote, “Redfern is one to watch!

I have to tell you that I have only a one-CD option in my car…and the  ONLY CD that has been in there since you gave me the torch songs has been that. I never get sick of listening to it, and I happily sing along every time I’m in the car. What a voice you have. My four faves are “Glory of Love,” “Always,” “Once in a While,” and “Bewitched.” But they are all magnificent. What a band you assembled, whew!!!”

Monica Wood, award-winning Maine author talking about Lisa’s Jazz CD “Once In A While.”
