Halcyon presents: Realized
November 2 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
We are so excited to welcome back Halcyon to the Meetinghouse! A new entrant to Maine’s cultural scene they have been creating original programs blending music and audiovisuals to tell unique stories. Their July and April 2023 original programs at the Meetinghouse were a lyrical blend of string music and soaring footage of Maine’s shorelines and the Kennebec in winter. They are coming back with a new program in November featuring stop-motion animation and string quartet music. We’ll be upstairs with the video projector on and the complete silence and darkness of Georgetown upon us. Tickets are $20, and kids under 13 are FREE so bring them. Doors open at 6 PM for food and drinks, and the show starts at 7:00 PM.
Speaking of food – Periwinkle Pie Co. will be back with their mouthwatering selection of hand pies available in a variety of savory and sweet flavors. Madeline will give us that night’s menu as we get closer to the event but as always, it will be tasty and filling. We’ll have wine, beer, and sodas for sale as well so come early for a spot of dinner, drinks and conviviality!
REALIZED Program Description:
Realized combines stop-motion animation with live string quartet music to imagine our collective future. With animated films and stories inspired by a series of workshops with Maine high school students, Realized amplifies the artwork and voices of young people as they reflect on the present and imagine what a resilient, sustainable, and equitable future on this planet could look like 50 years from now. Featuring folk tunes and music by Caroline Shaw, Villa-Lobos, Mozart, and Philip Glass, Realized is a creative, honest, and hopeful multimedia program exploring the potential we all have to enact meaningful change in our communities.
Halcyon is a Midcoast Maine-based artist collective and string quartet that designs and presents multimedia performances that combine live music with science, film, art, and spoken word. For more information about Halcyon and to learn about upcoming performances, visit: halcyonstringquartet.
