Home Movie Day comes to Georgetown on October 15th, 2016!

Robinhood Free Meetinghouse is pleased to be the MidCoast venue of this great event.

Home Movie day is an international celebration of amateur films and filmmaking held annually at locations worldwide. The event provides an opportunity to see and share your home movies with the community and to see your neighbor’s in turn. It’s a chance to rediscover eras gone past and to learn how best to care for your recorded memories.

Bring your home movies for us to screen – formats we can show include: original 8 or 16 mm films, VCR tapes, and DVD transfers.

We’ll also have a presentation from our expert partner Via-Vision Film and Video, located in Brunswick, on how to care for and transfer your films and they’ll inspect your films before we run them through the projector.

If you have a film you want to show, you can email us in advance at carlos@robinhoodfreemeetinghouse.com to let us know, or just simply show up!

You don’t have to have a film to come! The fun of the event is the surprise of seeing images that many times haven’t been seen for years.

The event is FREE! We’ll have beverages (sodas, water, and adult libations) and snacks available for sale.

Schedule:

  • 5 PM – Doors open
  • 5-6 PM – Via Vision Film and Video experts will be on hand to evaluate films
  • 5:45 PM – Brief talk on options for preserving film from the experts at Via Vision
  • 6 PM – Movies start!

Accessibility Note: The screenings will take place on the second floor of the building. It’s an historic building, the stairs are winding and there is no elevator.
